I have relocated onto tile A2. The only option once here is to relocate to a staircase - there are no staircases outside the tile I am on. TRAPPED

Yes it seems you can soft-lock yourself if you relocated playing solo, without another way to relocate. Just resolve out of turns and try again (or just restart b/c it's your game have fun with it).
