So the 5th step says to resolve the Awakening card, starting from step 4. Why doesnt it say to resolve the whole card?

OK, I think I get it. First 3 steps are about removing unsealed cards, damages, keys, stones.. so you do not need to do this as one can expect to start the game fresh.
So, when travelling the Dreamworld, I keep all these things (progress cards, keys, damages...) from previous adventures until I decide to "Awaken" and refresh all of it..
